1:7.4 (31.4) 我們無法完全理解神何以是原初的、不變的、全然權能的和完美的，同時又被一個不斷變化且看似受到律法所限制的宇宙──一個相對不完美的演化中宇宙──所圍繞。但我們可以在我們自己的人格經驗中知道這樣的真理，因為儘管我們自身與我們的環境都不斷在改變，我們仍維持著人格的同一性與意志的統一性。
